Important Information and FAQs
The event is over many days, where will I stay?
We recommend checking out comparison websites like
- trivago.co.uk - Compare hotel prices worldwide
- Tripadvisor: Over a billion reviews & contributions for Hotels, Attractions, Restaurants, and more
Or check on www.google.co.uk or your favourite comparison websites.
Prices can fluctuate from site to site and based on demand.
On some websites you can look at rentals and bed and breakfasts.
I have a disability, will all venues be accessible?
We have taken into consideration all of those that told us they will be going. Everyone could manage short distances and stairs. Whilst most of venues we have chosen are fully accessible some are not suitable for wheelchairs. Please get in touch with an admin if this causes you any concern.
There are big gaps in the schedule, why is this?
We have decided against organised meals, therefore people are free to dine based on their dietary requirements and within a budget that suits them. Some may want to go off in groups to local eateries which allows members more freedom and a chance to mingle in smaller groups.
Members may party into the early hours so we have opted to meet after lunch so you can sleep in, enjoy Manchester or the person they took along or picked up!
We have a break before the evening starts as some people may wish to freshen up, go for a meal or explore the area.
We understand not all venues or events will be for everyone so we wanted to allow time for you to enjoy the weekend as you would like. So at 11pm the official meet will end and members can go clubbing, go home, go to saunas, go for a kebab, or whatever they choose.
I don't wish to do it all, is that okay?
Yes we have some people attending just 2 days or coming for a day trip. You are free to jump in and out of the event as you please. You may not want to spend hours in bars, so just attend what you want.
Keep an eye on the chat groups for where the group is currently just in case we are running a little late in the schedule.
Is the event going to be expensive for me?
It depends on many factors -
- sharing hotels or rentals can save money,
- public transport will be cheaper than taxi's,
- drinks will be city prices,
- attending for just the day could also save you on hotel costs.
If you have budget concerns or need help to find accommodation within your budget or have questions regarding attending on a budget, we have a chat room on WhatsApp that would be helpful and you can always reach out to an admin, email us or post your questions on the forum or on Facebook. We have lots of people that will happily help you find what you need.
What if I don't know anyone and I am nervous?
Everyone gets nervous when meeting new people. If you have never attended a meet before it can be daunting, so we are having live chats and video chats before the event so you can get to know some other attendees. We can also arrange to meet with people individually before the event starts so you don't feel overwhelmed entering a room full of strangers. Drop an admin a message if you have any concerns.
What happens at these events?
A group of people from the LGBTQ+ community meet to have a great, and fun time over a few days. We build stronger and better connections within the group and make friendships that are stronger through meeting in person.
We are an inclusive group so will always try to make all members feel welcome.
Members do take responsibility for their own health and safety during the meets. We take no responsibility for accidents, hook-ups, hangovers or incidents outwith the control of Lads Lads Lads UK. Everyone attending will be deemed responsible enough to look after themselves.
We will be using photographic/streaming equipment during the event, attendance is deemed acceptance that you might end up in a clip or on a photo. You are free to avoid camera's but the editing of images will not be offered.
What if I have a question that isn't listed?
It would be advisable to join our 1 year anniversary group on WhatsApp as we will share information throughout the event, if you lose us during the weekend as we move about we will comment as we move from bar to bar, we will also post the itinerary, local maps, parking info and lots of other information in this group.
We cant think of everything, but we can help where possible, please feel free to reach out on the platforms, through the website forums or use the contact us feature. We all have other commitments but should be able to get back to everyone within 48 hours.
